Rest in Peace to Legendary Etta James

Friday, January 20, 2012

Etta James born  January 25, 1938 – January 20, 2012) was an American singer whose style spanned a variety of music genres including bluesrhythm and bluesrock and rollsoulgospel and jazz. Starting her career in the mid 1950s, she gained fame with hits such as "Dance With Me, Henry", "At Last", "Tell Mama", and "I'd Rather Go Blind" for which she claimed she wrote the lyrics. She faced a number of personal problems including drug addiction before making a musical resurgence in the late 1980s with the album, The Seven Year Itch

She is regarded as having bridged the gap between rhythm and blues and rock and roll, and is the winner of six Grammys and seventeen Blues Music Awards. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Grammy Hall of Fame in both 1999 and 2008. Rolling Stone ranked James number twenty-two on their list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and number sixty-two on the list of the 100 Greatest Artists.

One of our favorite song
I'd Rather go blind by Etta James

Story from Chicago Tribune
Singer Etta James has died at the age of 73, her longtime manager and friend, Lupe De Leon, confirms.

James spent two weeks in the hospital earlier this month, battling the final stages of terminal leukemia.

She also suffered from kidney disease and dementia.

James had been in declining health for several years, and was hospitalized multiple times.

She has two sons, Donto and Sametto James, who have been locked in a legal battle with her husband, Artis Mills, over who makes decisions for her.

Last month, a judge approved an agreement in which Mills was named James' conservator, but had to equally share "end of life" decisions with her sons.

Mills was also limited in how much of James' estate he could spend, and he could not "encumber" her music catalog.

James, a key figure in the early days of R&B music, has won three Grammy Awards.

She is best known for her 1961 hit "At Last."

Her final album, "The Dreamer," was released in November 201

Movie Night - Courageous ............. Love it !

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

We know we are Late but We just watched the movie Courageous  and We Absolutely Love it !!

It's A great Movie , We Laughed & Cried .

“Courageous” calls men to step up with coucourageousrage. It recognizes that there are great men in our community.

Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they face danger every day. Yet when tragedy strikes close to home, these fathers are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, and their faith. From this struggle will come a decision that changes all of their lives. With action, drama, and humor, the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures embraces God's promise to "turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers." Souls will be stirred, and hearts will be challenged to be ... courageous!

Moviegoers will again find themselves crying, laughing, and cheering—sometimes simultaneously—as they are inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children.
Protecting the streets is second nature to these law enforcement officers. Raising their children? That will take courage.
Here is your look at the movie:

A Father is very important in every child life and we encourage everyone to check it out !!

Happy Birthday to the First lady Michelle Obama!

Happy Birthday to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The HFM Group Special Tribute

Monday, January 16, 2012

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope."

(Martin Luther King)

Happy birthday to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
We thank you for fighting for us

Great quotes from the honorable Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"A man who won't die for something is not fit to live."

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."

"Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent."

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

"In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

"Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend."

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter"

"Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal."

“We must use time creatively.”

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

“Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.”

NYC Restaurant Week 20th year Anniversary

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of NYC Restaurant Week January 16–February 10 (Monday–Friday) with 20 incredible days of three-course prix-fixe dining, featuring $24.07 lunch and $35.00 dinner at more than 300 restaurants.
NYC Restaurant Week is New York City's original dining celebration and a pioneer in the dining industry. As the country’s first-ever restaurant week, it debuted in 1992 when it was developed as a one-time culinary event to welcome the Democratic National Convention (DNC) to the City. Though created to appeal to delegates and other DNC attendees, the program—with 95 participating restaurants—also found a strong following among residents excited to dine at some of the City's top restaurants for a fraction of the usual cost—$19.92 for a three-course lunch—and who wanted NYC Restaurant Week to be a recurring event.
Over the past 20 years, NYC Restaurant Week has grown tremendously yet has remained committed to giving visitors and residents the opportunity to experience the quality, variety and hospitality that embody the NYC dining experience.
This year, in honor of the 20th Anniversary, NYC Restaurant Week is, for the first time ever, a 20-day event. Adding extra days to NYC Restaurant Week only underscores just how many reasons there are to celebrate this milestone for one of the City's most exciting and anticipated events.
