Not Your Average Dating Ideas

Loving Black Couple Stock Photo - 6419286

Are you tired of the same old dinner and a movie? Does every date seem like just another Saturday night? Maybe it's time to get creative, spice things up, and think outside the bar. Here are a few outrageous and unforgettable dating ideas to make sure your next night on the town is not your average date.

Hot air balloon
Up, Up and Away
Elevate your romance, and leave your earthbound cares behind, by taking your date for a ride in a hot air balloon. You can arrange a hot air balloon ride at almost any time of day -- from sunrise to sunset. Some balloon rides include a gourmet picnic or a champagne brunch; all offer breathtaking views and an above-the-treetops change of perspective that no other experience can equal.

Tandem skydivers
For an exciting date that neither of you will ever forget, try  skydiving or bungee jumping. Any shared experience that challenges both your courage and your common sense is sure to bring you closer as a couple.

Couple in city
Good Hunting
Searching for an interesting date idea? Join a scavenger hunt hosted by a charity or community group -- or organize one of your own. Invite friends to help you and your date locate the treasures on your list of hard-to-find items, or make it strictly a duet. Either way, let the scavenging begin.

Couple dancing
Dance, Dance, Dance
What date could be more classic than a night of dancing? Take a drop-in lesson or dress to the nines and go to your nearest club. Who cares if you're a little rusty or don't know the moves? Once you're waltzing cheek-to-cheek or swinging to a salsa beat with your heart's desire, you'll feel like you're floating on air.

Man swimming with shark

Adrenaline Rush
Nothing says romance like shark-infested waters. Swimming with sharks is a popular travel adventure these days. And with hundreds of shark species roaming the world's oceans, there are many places -- from Mexico to South Africa to Australia's Great Barrier Reef -- where you can go nose-to-nose with these fascinating seagoing predators.

Woman on horse

Giddy Up
Saddle up for adventure when you take your date horseback riding. Whether you go for a ride at a local stable or spend the weekend at a guest ranch, sitting astride a horse is a great way to spur romantic feelings and add a little flair to your date. After all, who doesn't look terrific in a cowboy hat?

White water rafting

Shoot the Rapids
A really good date should leave you breathless, your heart pounding, and that's pretty much guaranteed when you make a date to go white water rafting. Find a reputable river guide and choose your river -- from Class II to Class V -- based on your experience and your tolerance for terror. Then grab a paddle, strap on a life vest, and take the plunge

A couple jumping into the water [16ks0008rf]

Go Crazy
At the end of "Wedding Crashers," the 2005 comedy starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as best friends and business partners who crash weddings to meet women, the two guys and their new true loves head off on a date - to crash a wedding. Follow their lead and do something crazy, like crashing a wedding, sneaking into the movies, or prowling the zoo after dark. Stop short of serious law breaking to avoid arrest, but have your escape route planned just in case.

Couple diving

Dive In
Sometimes there's just no need to talk -- like when you're under water. Make a date to go snorkeling where you can watch brightly colored tropical fish drift and dart around a coral reef. Or if you feel a deeper call, try scuba diving. You'll need to take a class and earn your scuba certification, but romantic rewards are well worth the trouble.

Couple looking at a map
On the Road
Road trips are an American tradition, a rite of passage, and a great idea for an extended date. Choose a destination that takes you across the border into a different state or country, then hit the road, let serendipity be your compass, and just see what happens along the way. The best discoveries may be what you learn about each other.

Couple camping
Back to Nature
Go camping -- but don't go far. Pitch a tent in your back yard, build a campfire in a portable fire pit, and open a bottle of wine. Share intimate conversation over a gourmet dinner as the moon begins to rise, then cuddle up and look for shooting stars among the constellations. If the date goes really well, you can even make s'mores.

Diddy, Magic Johnson to Launch Cable Channels

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Tyler Perry also confirms plans for his own long-awaited network.

Magic Johnson, Diddy, Tyler Perry, television, Oprah Winfrey, cable channels

Coming soon to your living room...twenty-four hours of Diddy and Magic Johnson. Cable giant Comcast announced today that the company will work with the media moguls to launch their own branded channels, as part of a mandate given to Comcast to support minority-owned networks. The company has said it will launch ten such networks by 2018.

The Hall of Famer, who has overseen a successful media empire since retiring from the NBA, is preparing to launch Aspire, a 24-hour channel with a focus on what Johnson called positive, uplifting images of African Americans. Aspire's mix will include film, TV, music and comedy, with a combination of acquired projects and original programming. "There will some performing arts and shows about faith," Johnson said in a phone interview with the Los Angeles Times. Aspire will launch on June 30 and be headquartered in Atlanta, also home of Tyler Perry's studio and a booming hub for Black entertainment.

Speaking of Perry, he also recently confirmed plans for his own network to Jay Leno. Perry's venture will be in conjunction with Lionsgate, the company that distributes most of his films, and not part of the Comcast deal. The Madea creator tossed around the names TylerVision and Tyler TV as possible choices for his channel.

Diddy's network, REVOLT, will be as opposite in scope to Aspire as the name indicates. Targeting a younger demographic, REVOLT will have programming inspired by music and pop culture. The Grammy-winning rapper said that it is "the first channel created entirely from the ground up in this new era of social media." The network will launch in 2013.

The director Robert Rodriguez is behind one of two new Comcast networks targeting Latino Americans. According to the media conglomerate, the remaining six channels will also focus on African American and Latino American viewers.

The announcement comes on the heels of the launch of Oprah Winfrey's OWN network, which has been plagued by low-ratings and regime changes since starting last year. Johnson claims he is aware of the risks: "We'll learn from those who have gone before us. We understand the landscape, and we will run a sound business."

Healthy Living : Get Your Mind Right…... Try a Mental Cleanse

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

A mental cleanse is needed regularly! I would say once a month at the very least. What is a mental cleanse, you ask?
Just like we do a cleanse or a detox for our bodies, because of all of the gook and residue from fried foods, breads, and other delicious poisons… Our MINDS need the same break from all of the information that clouds our thoughts. We are bombarded with so much on any given day. If we take a moment to release some of the extra ‘mind clutter’, we’ll see an amazing difference.
You attempt to get some work done, but you get an instant message from your co-worker two cubicles down who is complaining about her husband again who cheats but she never leaves him anyhow….
How are you feeling now? Not too good eh?
OH…I FORGOT TO MENTION, it’s only 11:30am!
Does this feel even somewhat familiar? Well..start to think about your basic day- to- day interactions that shift your mood that you HAVE control over. What can you do to cut down or avoid these things, if even for ONE WEEK?

HERE ARE SOME BASIC TIPS TO START A MENTAL CLEANSE – You don’t have to escape to the mountains of Peru for a week, there are some things you can do right now to gain some peace of mind.
1. Start to check your email only 2xs a day. Don’t look at the phone for emails either!
2. Let voice mail do it’s job. If you answer the phone every time it rings you’ll always be on the phone and never get anything done.
3. Cut down on social media.
4. Stay away from gossip or negative people who try to bring you into their drama. See number 2. LOL
5. Do not watch or read the NEWS! Even for 2 days and see how you feel…
When you start to cut out the unnecessary distractions you’ll have more time. Use that to do call a family member you haven’t checked on in a while, write thank you letters to clients and mentors one day a week. In the next 4 weeks I want you to cut down on something a little bit more each week and see how you feel?
What will your ONE THING BE? Take a moment to think about it…
IT’S YOUR JOB TO MAINTAIN YOUR BOUNDARIES. Remember you train people how to treat you and respect your time. LEARN HOW TO AVOID MENTAL CLUTTER by doing a mind cleanse even a few days a week and you’ll see a huge difference in your life. You’ll become more effective and yes…happier!

Happy Birthday To The Greatest Of All Time Michael Jordan!

Happy to the Greatest of All Time Michael Jordan

                                                            He turns 49 today

Amazing Quotes from Michael Jordan

I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.

If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it

To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don't isolate.

There is no "i" in team but there is in win.
The game is my wife. It demands loyalty and responsibility, and it gives me back fulfillment and peace

Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.

Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.
“I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don't do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results.

RIP Whitney Houston - Her Greatest Inspirational Moments

Sunday, February 12, 2012

Whitney Houston was born into greatness. She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin. Houston first started singing in the church as a child. In her teens, she sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others, in addition to modeling. It was around that time when music mogul Clive Davis first heard Houston perform.

Six-time Grammy Award winner Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music’s queen was an inspiration to a generation dies at 48 but leaves behind an inspirational body of music.
At her peak, Miss Houston was the golden girl of the music industry. From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world’s best-selling artists, with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone. She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful and peerless vocals that were rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen. Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits such as “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”
Here are Whitney’s greatest inspirational moments that shaped a generation.
“One Moment In Time”
“When You Believe”
“Star Spangled Banner”
Gospel Medley
Gospel 2011I Look To You
Yes , Jesus Love Me ,  It is said that this was the last song she she sang the night before her Death .

Whitney leaves behind the following triumps: 415 Awards, 2 Emmys, 6 Grammys, 22 AMAs, 30 Billboard Awards & sold 300,000,000.

Rest in peace Whitney. Let songs of the angels welcome you.

10 Tips to Make Your Flowers Last Longer

Saturday, February 11, 2012

What's better than flowers? Long-lasting flowers! What's better than flowers? Long-lasting flowers! The questions I'm asked the most is, "How do I make my flowers last longer?" Well, there are a variety of factors involved. Those super cheap roses that you bought may have been grown in really bad mass-produced conditions, which lead to a weaker flower.
When you buy organic, or flowers grown in a more sustainable way, they will probably last longer.
Leaving those buds in front of a window on a hot summer day? Yep, those babies will start to droop.
Here are my favorite tips that will allow you to enjoy those beauties longer:
  1. Change the water everyday. Everyday?! Well, at least every other day. By far, the best way to prolong flowers is to change the water, so that they can drink fresh water and rehydrate. Have an arrangement? Flush out the water by placing the whole vase under the faucet.
  2. Cut the stems on a slant. Before you place the flowers in water, cut the stems on an angle. This creates more surface space to allow for better water absorption. Ideally, you will re-cut the stem every time you change the water.

  1. No leaves below the water. This is equally as important! Probably the most important care tip of all. The leaves create bacteria, which cause the flowers to die faster (and smell).
  2. Keep flowers cool. Tropical flowers generally don't mind the heat. Wondering why your hydrangea died in a matter of hours? They really hate the heat. So do a lot of flowers, so keep them out of the direct sun. Place them in the fridge for an hour or two to cool off on a hot day.
  3. Orchids. Potted orchids are the most popular option for homes and offices. They last a couple of months and are easy to take care of. Less is more with these guys. Add only one cup of water every ten days, and keep out of direct sunlight. That's it!
  4. The flower food myth. Probably my least favorite myth of all. Change the water everyday and the buds will last just as long or longer than by adding flower food, or anything else like aspirin or bleach.
  1. Forcing open buds. Most flowers can be forced open. Simply use your thumb and forefinger to gently pry open the petals by lifting them back.
  2. Pollen. If you love those fragrant lilies, be sure to pick out the red pollen that will stain whatever it touches. Simply pull it off the stamen and dispose.
  3. Freshness. It's simple. If the flowers are soft, that means they are old. Place your palm on top of the heads to test for firmness.
  4. Enjoy them. This isn't a tip, but a reminder to enjoy your flowers! Take a moment to smell the roses.
